History
For over 90 years Standard Xchange has been the leader in the design and manufacture of shell and tube heat exchangers. Standard Xchange had its beginning as Ross Heater Manufacturing Company Inc. Founded by Scott Ross in 1917 in Buffalo, NY, the company began as a supplier of heat exchangers to oil refineries such as Texaco, ESSO, and Standard Oil.

Ross Heater was purchased in 1933 by American Radiator and Sanitary Standard, merged with Kewanee Boiler and in 1953 separated and ultimately became known as American Standard Heat Transfer Division. In 1986, the company was purchased by ITT Corporation and the name changed to ITT Standard. Today, we are known as Standard Xchange, part of Xylem Inc., a leading global water technology company with operations in more than 150 countries.

Standard Xchange continues to supply the BCF line of heat exchangers, small off-the-shelf units originally designed by Ross Heater and still being used in industrial applications today as well as a full range of highly engineered custom shell and tube units. Product lines have been expanded to include brazed-plate, plate and frame and air cooled products making Standard Xchange truly "the complete heat exchanger company." Additionally, Standard Xchange was the first US manufacturer of heat exchangers to obtain the ISO 9001 certification in 1993.
